Surya Prakash Gurung, President of Youth for Change, Nepal
received the Youth Initiative Award 2004 from Mr Taranath Dahal, President,
Federation of Nepalese Journalist admist a function on 22nd March 2005 in Hotel
Mountain, Kathmandu. For his project youth for Change.
Surya Prakash Gurung presenting his concept of establishing a youth led and
youth run organization, "Youth for Change" emphasized the need of young people
taking a step further and intervening on policy making and decision making at
all levels. Also he added the importance of investment on young people for their
growth to the fullest. In his words "Young people best understand the young
people" and should work as a self- help group.

Samrat Katwal and Shailesh Pandit were jointly awarded for
their project" Youth Micro Entrepreneurship Development Project". Presenting
their concept, Samrat explained it as a self sustainable micro-credit project
for the school dropouts. Similarly, presenting his project, "National Village
Information Centre" Bhuban Raj Acharya urge the need of having a information hub
to promote education, e-governance, health services, tourism etc in rasuwa
district. He will be starting it from the public school where he completed his
secondary level. Jointly receiving the award the twin brothers, , Ram Prasad and
Laxman Prasad Rimal presented their concept of designing " Air pollution control
device prototype" . Gayatri Amatya, students of St. Xaviers, presented her
project, " Abhiyan...... a movement" and stressed to launch a movement to
motivate and utilize youths energy and potential for the community service.
