Civic

Civic concerns are a series of one-day workshops conducting in association
with Youth Initiative. The one-day workshop brings together 20-25 youths from
diverse background between the age group of 16-27. This workshop basically
deals with the state affairs and civil awareness.
The objective of civic concerns is to arouse civil and political
interest amongst a-political young people. The urban and semi urban youths
between the age of 16-27 studying in private colleges are least interested in
the ongoing political scene and they tend to say "Politics is not my business
and so I hate it..." With this one-day workshop, it is hoped that by the end,
they realize that politics is vitally important in everyday life. So there is no
way escape. It is also an effort to assess youth concerns on civil life and
state and share views and ideas as to what further initiatives can be taken in
the days to come. Finding like-minded people and uniting to face the challenge
has remained a salient feature of this workshop. This is also an effort to
rescue fellow youths from the loneliness or frustrations arising from civil
disorder. |

So "Let's discuss about it - hating it is not the answer." |

The workshop on Civic Concerns is held every month on the first Saturday of
the English calendar. The workshops are structured in four sessions with breaks
at regular intervals aiming to provide time for informal socialization between
participants. Of the four sessions, two sessions are working group sessions,
one guest speaker session and one synthesis and wrap up session.
